It is all about the motive of why we eat the Lord´s supper. Is it to remember the death of the Lord Jesus on the cross for our sins, or is it just to fill our stomach and satisfy our hunger?
We get together to eat together as the body of Christ, to remember his death.
That is why the Bible says that we should examine ourselves. That is to examine our motive for eating the Lord´s supper.
Otherwise, we will be judged by the Lord, if we eat the Lord´s supper, just to satisfy our hunger.
In 1 Corinthians 11 we can see that some of the believers, came to eat the Lord´s supper, just to fill their stomach and satisfy their need for food, but not to remember the death of Jesus on the cross. That is why some of them became sick, and some of them have died.
